Questions, answered

The things people ask most about ChartSage — what it reads, why a read sometimes fails, how credits and purchases behave, and where your data lives. If your question is not here, email us and a human will reply.

Which markets and charts are supported?

Any candlestick chart: forex pairs, crypto, individual stocks, and indices. Every timeframe works, from one-minute to monthly — the model reads the structure that is visible in the image you give it. Line charts and heavily stylised chart types are harder to read than standard candles.

What makes a good chart image?

Sharp, straight, and full-frame. A screenshot taken directly in your trading app is ideal. If you are photographing another screen, hold the phone square to the display, avoid glare and reflections, and let the chart fill most of the frame. Crop out watchlists and side panels. Very heavy indicator overlays can bury the price action the model needs to read.

Why did my analysis fail?

The usual causes, in order: the image is too blurry or too dark for the candles to be resolved; the picture is not a chart at all; the connection dropped mid-request; or the analysis service returned an error. A failed analysis does not consume a credit. Retake the shot with better framing and try again — if it keeps failing, send us the image and we will look at it.

How do credits work?

You start with free credits. One completed analysis uses one credit. You can top up with credit packs, so you pay only for the analyses you actually run — there is no requirement to subscribe to get started.

What happens when my credits run out?

The app tells you before it runs an analysis it cannot pay for, and takes you to the purchase screen. Nothing is charged silently, and your existing history stays fully readable on your device whether you have credits or not.

Do my purchases survive a reinstall or a new phone?

Purchases are tied to your Google Play account, not to the app install, so they follow that store account. Reinstall on the same account and your entitlement is restored. Billing questions, receipts, and refunds are handled through Google Play — we can help you find the right screen if you get stuck.

Does my analysis history sync across devices?

No, and that is deliberate. Analyses are stored only in the app's local database on the device that ran them, because we do not keep a copy on any server. The privacy you gain costs you cross-device sync — a trade we made on purpose. The full architecture is on the Privacy & security page.

Do you store the charts I send?

No. The image is analyzed in memory and discarded — there is no image storage bucket in the system at all. There is no account, no sign-in, and no email collected.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstalling the app removes your entire local history, since that is where it lives. To also clear the per-device credit record held server-side, follow the steps on the Delete your data page.

Is this financial advice?

No. ChartSage is an educational technical-analysis tool. It describes what a chart shows, it never tells you to buy or sell anything, and it does not guarantee any outcome. Trading carries real risk of loss. See How it works for what the bias and confidence score do and do not mean.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Email us. Include your device model, your Android version, and what you expected to happen — that is usually enough to reproduce a problem on the first try. Feature requests genuinely shape the roadmap; we are a small team and we read every one.
